INTRODUCE

Li Xuwei

12. Li Xuwei is the owner of a gym. Unlike many outsiders who come to Shenzhen to strive, he is a genuine local of Shenzhen. He grew up in Guangming New District in the countryside of Shenzhen. After graduating from university, he returned to Shenzhen and chose to develop his career in Nanshan District. In 2018, during the period when Nanshan District was developing rapidly, considering his major, he decided to open a fitness center in Nanshan District to see if he could catch up with the economic development trend. When he first arrived, he was penniless. The money he could spare was not even enough to support his life in this high-consumption area for three months. To save money, he chose to live in a beehive-style room within a room. It was in a village within a city in Nanshan District. The landlord had divided a 60-square-meter house into six rooms, which made him extremely uncomfortable to live in. And living together with six people who have different work schedules will also cause a lot of trouble. For instance, Li Xuwei has to get up at 7 every day to go to work. However, some people who have to work night shifts may not come back until 3 a.m., and the sound of washing up when they return is usually very loud. Not to mention that every time they finish washing up and return to their rooms, they have to pass by Li Xuwei's room. This makes it even more difficult for Li Xuwei, who is already mentally weak due to leaving home early and returning late, to fall asleep. Li Xuwei himself said, "Children like us who grew up in the countryside don't have much experience. But it has indeed become my goal to avoid living in such a harsh environment for two or three years in the future." Now, Li Xuwei has opened his own gym in an office building, so he has also bought an 80-square-meter house in Yuehai Street, Nanshan District, and is living a decent life. However, his early experiences did indeed cause him irreversible damage. Due to the experience in the beehive room, he suffered from mental weakness and was unable to sleep. Therefore, he is now extremely dependent on drugs like melatonin and sleeping pills. Although this does cause him irreversible damage, according to his own account, his body's strong dependence on such drugs indeed leaves him with no other choice.
