INTRODUCE

Li Yang

1. Li Yang is a delivery person in Shenzhen. Every day, he gets up early and works late to deliver food for at least 10 hours in order to support his family’s spending. With his hard work, he can earn 8,000 yuan a month. In July of the year before last, he found a house which is closer to the city center. Even though the monthly rent has increased by nearly 100 yuan compared to before (2,300 yuan per month). However, when comes to consider that living in this house would make his life more convenient and that the rent of this house was much lower than the market price, he signed the contract. However, when Li Yang signed the contract, he did not read it carefully and signed it hastily. Little did he know that the several "conventional terms" he had overlooked would cause him huge trouble in the future.

After moving in, Li Yang's troubles came one after another. Because the disturbing effect of this room was not good, the crying of the child upstairs for one or two hours every night was extremely irritating, which made Li Yang, who already had to go out early and come back late, even when he is exhausted. After a year of hard work, when he move out, the landlord checked the terms one by one. Li Yang found that on these insignificant terms, the monthly sanitation fees, sewage discharge fees, and the ambiguous management service fees he needed to pay were all incredibly high. In the final settlement, Li Yang had to pay nearly 7,000 yuan for all these miscellaneous expenses over the course of a year, which was enough to cover his living expenses for three months. Li Yang had also attempted to resolve this matter through legal means, but the landlord presented those ambiguous terms from the contract he signed when moving in as evidence, and in the end, the matter had to be left unresolved.
